One of the hardest bust most important things you have to learn as an entrepreneur is that doing less does not make you lazy. This is radically different than what you are taught growing up and it challenges the norm.
Society starts you off all wrong
It all starts with your parents telling you the most important thing is that you do your best. It doesn’t matter what your grades are as long as you are giving your best effort!
Then you graduated and your teachers started marking your report card with an “E” for good effort, or “S” for satisfactory behavior. If you played sports growing up then at some point your coach probably gave you the ole “It doesn’t matter whether we win or lose, what matters is that you leave it all out their during the game.”
Then we take our first job, and we are rewarded for the amount of hours we clock in. If you produce double the results in the same 8 hours your check at the end of the week will be the same.
Becoming an entrepreneur requires you to shift how you define productivity
Usually by the time you make the decision to become an entrepreneur you are brainwashed into thinking that you have to work long hours to make more income.
Most people running a Network Marketing business don’t even view themselves as entrepreneurs.
The first thing you must realize to become more productive in your business is to realize that you are an entrepreneur. You must then start working to shift the way you look at productivity.
As an entrepreneur you have to understand that you get rewarded and paid for one thing. That is results!
The reality of owning your own business and peak performance as an adult comes from not working harder but working smarter. It doesn’t matter how hard you work there will always be someone willing to work harder and for cheaper!
Even though our culture wrongly rewards personal sacrifice you have to shift your thinking to personal productivity. To succeed you need to learn to work smarter. Does it bother you that there are people out there working less hours than you and making 10, 20, 300 times more than you!
You need to take a look at your life.
Get rid of the things that don’t
- Move you toward your goals
- Add to your bottom line
- Bring you closer to the people you care about
There is no reason you need to keep things in your life, that don’t add value to your or the people around you.
Always be asking yourself before starting a new task, “Is doing this really necessary.” If you didn’t do it would it affect your income?
Don’t be afraid to cut out things that are not making your money. Your financial success depends on this!
Focus on the things that increase your income and deepen your relationships. In today’s world there will always be more work you can do, but the person who figures out how to get results while doing the least amount of work is the real winner.
