15 Habits That Will Sabotage Your Success

15 Habits That Will Sabotage Your SuccessSometimes in life we get stuck in a rut and have no idea how we got there. Here are 15 things that keep us from moving forward in life. Correct these things and get out of any rut for good.

1. Aiming for perfection

There is no such thing as perfect. What a sad world it would be if there was. A perfect life would mean that things can’t get any better. Instead of perfection aim for completion and constant improvement.

2. Waiting for the time to be right

What’s worth doing tomorrow should be done today. The right time is right now. Decide what you want and do something each day that will move you towards your goal.

3. Living in your “Glory Days”

You can’t change the past, so don’t focus on it. Instead reflect on the past and focus on the present.

4. Throwing pity parties for yourself

No matter how bad it is for you, someone else has it worse. Life’s hard and has lot’s of challenges but feeling sorry for yourself won’t change that. Focus on the things you are grateful for.

5. Hanging out with negative people

Those people who are constantly complaining in life. Get rid of these people and find people who are going somewhere in life. You become you who you hang out with.

6. Living in your comfort zone

If you are comfortable and happy with your life it means you are not growing. Get outside your comfort zone, attack your fears until they are gone. Then go find something else that scares the hell out of you and attack it.

7. Competing with others

The most important competition in life is with yourself. Stop comparing yourself to other people and start competing with yourself. Your daily goal should be to make sure the person you are tomorrow is better than the person you are today.

8. Not focusing

You can do anything but not everything. Instead of trying to change a bunch of things pick 1 to 3 things you could change that would have the greatest impact on you and go to work with intense focus.

9. Waiting on luck to come to you

Luck is not going to come knock on your door. Instead of waiting for luck to come to you go find it. The harder you work the luckier you will get.

10. Looking for someone to blame

Blaming anybody but yourself for what happens to you in life is admitting to yourself that your success is not in your own hands. Take responsibility for what happens to you in life. It’s the only way to control your destiny.

11. Not smiling enough

Go through life with an attitude of gratitude. Learn to smile at the little things and it will make a big difference in your life.

12. Giving up too soon

Learn to fail forward. If something is worth going after, then its worth going through the struggles to get it. Nobody gets it right on the first round. Every failure is a step closer to your goal.

13. Not taking enough risk

Everything in life has risk, but your rewards in life will never be greater than your risks.

14. Not forgiving yourself

So you’ve messed up in the past. We all do. You can’t move forward in life until you forgive yourself. True forgiveness is realizing the past couldn’t have been any different.

15. Not enjoying the ride

No matter which way you spin it, life is hard. Make sure that on your journey in life that you take time to enjoy the little things. Don’t spend so much time on the destination that you forget to enjoy the ride. Every moment that passes is a moment that you will never recapture.

Years ago after one of these lunches I remember jotting this note down:

"I don't care about the things that don't make me money. Find you're most valuable tasks and focus all of your energy on those things."

This top earner simply found the core skills that grew his downline and increased profits. Then concentrated all of his efforts on eliminating everything that didn't fall in this category and getting better at everything that did.

So what are these money making activities?
